God's Radiance Day and Night

Driving to the office this morning, I got a wonderful glimpse of God's majestic hand in nature. Ahead, I saw a bright gray colored moon, still showing off its landscape and features. At the same time, in my driver's-side rearview mirror, I saw the bright sun, almost blinding me with it's glorious radiance. It was as if God aligned the two in a straight line so I could enjoy his handiwork in one brief stroke of creative genius.

The experience reminded me of St. Francis of Assisi's beautiful words of heavenly worship, the Canticle of Brother Sun and Sister Moon.

Minutes later, I sat in my office revisiting his soul-felt words of worship. What a glorious experience to start my day.

"Praised be You my Lord with all Your creatures, especially Sir Brother Sun, Who is the day through whom You give us light. And he is beautiful and radiant with great splendor, Of You Most High, he bears the likeness. Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars, In the heavens you have made them bright, precious and fair. Praised be You, my Lord, through Brothers Wind and Air, And fair and stormy, all weather’s moods, by which You cherish all that You have made."

Wonderful words of worship about God's magnificent handiwork.

And in the psalmist's words:

"Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy." (Psalms 95:4-5)
